Rapid changes in competition, demand, technology, and regulations have made it more important than ever for organizations to be able to respond and adapt quickly.
The best way to do so is to increase business agility within your organization. More than simply a single process or methodology, business agility is the ability to:
- Adjust strategies on a continuous basis
- Empower employees to make data-driven decisions faster
- Respond to ambiguity and uncertainty with flexibility and speed
- View unanticipated change as an opportunity for transformation
By introducing flexibility and adaptability enterprise-wide, organizations can respond faster to fluctuating market conditions, improve overall organizational efficiency, and enhance customer satisfaction. Here are the advantages of deploying agile methods according to a recent study.

To increase agility an organization needs to be both dynamic and stable. Dynamic practices enable companies to respond nimbly and quickly to new challenges and opportunities, while stable practices cultivate reliability and efficiency by establishing a backbone of elements that don’t need to change frequently.
To increase business agility, you need to examine and improve three layers within your organization. Executive management guides the strategy agility layer. Product management guides the product delivery and portfolio agility layers.
